Socks:

We could wax poetic for pages. What works for your friend might not work for you. Get one pair of each (Smartwool/Ultimax/Thorlo/etc.) and try them! Believe me, the differences are huge. Find the ones that you love and buy at least 4 pairs. Buy a pair of ultra thin sock liners and try them as well. If they help bring 3 pairs.
