Snowbird Expeditions is the manifestation of a lifelong ambition for Dick Bass, owner of Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort and first person to summit each of the seven continent's highest peaks. Snowbird Expeditions is truly the embodiment of Bass's holistic approach incorporating mind, body and spirit. Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort, rated the #1 resort in the USA by SKIING magazine, is extremely unique. Located in one of the most magnificent mountain ranges in the world (The Wasatch Range) its combination of topography, personalities, amenities, and experience creates the ideal atmosphere for personal and physical expansion and exploration

Mountaineering covers the earth. Temperatures range from -50º F to over 100º F. Altitudes can cover from sea level to over 29,000 feet. In order to prepare our attendees for these wide variations in conditions we have prepared two unique Expeditions. Snowbird Expeditions Winter emphasizes the critical components of cold weather mountaineering utilizing the Snowbird Expeditions standard of a 1:1 guide-to-guest ratio. From clothing to climbing you will learn the key elements that make summiting safe, enjoyable and possible. All types of ascending techniques, shelter, layering, and much more will be covered by some of the world's most recognized and experienced mountaineers who have climbed 8,000-meter peaks. Using the country's foremost rock climbers and mixed-terrain mountaineers as personalized guides in a 1-to-1 guide-to-guest ratio, Snowbird Expeditions Summer concentrates on the ascents at warmer temperature levels. All aspects of technical climbing from 5.5 to 5.13 multi-pitch routes, hydration, pacing, fixed ropes, descending scree fields, and backpack efficiency will culminate in a summit of over 3,000 feet of steep vertical rock to the top of Mt. Superior.

Located less than 30 minutes from Salt Lake City's international airport, Snowbird is easily reached yet extremely remote. Minutes from the Cliff Lodge you can find yourself on sheer vertical faces thousands of feet high at altitudes over 11,000 feet. By bringing the world's preeminent mountaineers, who have the ability to teach both technical and life impacting lessons, to our pristine wilderness we are in the position to train a qualified handful of aspiring adventurers the keys to success both in summit attempts and personal challenges.

Designed by our rotating team of world reknowned mountaineers, these expeditions combine the optimum blend of intense athletic activity, technical climbing instruction, mountaineering skills, group dynamics analysis, and world renowned healthful cuisine and restorative spa treatments.
