Snowbird Expeditions is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to combine world-class mountaineering education, terrain, guides, amenities, service and meals in a five-day course in the heart of Utah's Wasatch Mountains.
Based at Snowbird Ski & Summer Resort's rugged, Alp-like setting, a rotating assortment of the world's foremost mountaineers and climbing specialists facilitate the intensive, individualized progression of each YPO participant. With a mountaineer fresh off the Himalaya or Yosemite dedicated to your personal instruction, the accumulation of mountaineering skills and companionship is rapid and tailored to each participant's physical and technical background and experience.
Winter and summer courses follow a similar schedule - orientation, lodging at Snowbird's luxurious Cliff Lodge, acclimatization day filled with skill-specific stations, and then it's off to the backcountry for hands-on training and experiences. Backcountry camp features every possible amenity and desire including a chef preparing scrumptious and healthy meals that rejuvenate exhausted muscles and minds. Winter and summer courses culminate with a final-day climb, weather permitting a summit of the 12,000-foot towering Mt. Superior in the summer; winter final ascents vary based on avalanche and weather conditions.
Massages in the Cliff Spa bring bodies back to life before the closing-night ceremonies featuring a private dinner with a presentation by world-record Everest summiter Apa Sherpa who presents each of the guests with a special gift and insights from his 16 summits of the world's tallest mountain.
